IP Strategy
The value of intangible assets depends primarily on who owns them
and how they are being used. Having a clear strategy in place to
manage IP determines how effectively an organization can capitalize
on its knowledge, its technology and the differentiating factors that
underlie its business plan.
From licensing your IP portfolio to managing it effectively, FVG is
equipped to assist with all phases of intellectual property strategy. We
advise senior managers and executives on how to align their IP
portfolios with their business objectives, how to effectively
commercialize their intangible assets, and how strategic management
of those assets can help them successfully navigate the competitive
landscape.

How we’ve helped
Our partners and affiliates provided IP strategy services on
the following engagements:
Portfolio Analysis, Imaging Products Company
Services provided: Evaluation of a portfolio comprised of more than
500 U.S. patents for an imaging products company. This review
involved teams of technology and IP experts; its goal was to determine
the quality of the portfolio for external commercialization and the
extent to which it would contribute to future product development.
Commercialization Strategies, Global Media Company
Services provided: Identification of the top five technologies for
immediate commercialization, from the patent portfolio of a major
media conglomerate. The analysis evaluated the economic potential of
each technology, prioritized commercialization opportunities and
recommended strategies.
Market Entry Analysis, Automotive Company
Services provided: Assessment of a portfolio comprised of more 100 US
and Japanese patents covering advanced lithium ion battery
technology for electric hybrid vehicles (HEV), held by a large Japanese
automotive company. The analysis included legal, technical and
financial assessments of the portfolio, and included recommended
strategies for commercialization and partnering for manufacturing.
IP Organization and Capabilities, Global Media Company
Services provided: Creation of an internal IP organization to manage
the patent portfolio of a major media conglomerate. The system design
included review of the entire patent portfolio, design of a patent
database and development of an IP strategy that aligned IP
management with the corporate vision.
